Overview

Location:  Houston or Austin TX Houston or Austin TX (Candidates located in Austin can work from home and travel to Houston as required)

Experience:  3+ years of experience in finance and accounting within growing, fast-paced organizations

 

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Technical Accountant to join our growing team.  In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting, with a focus on complex accounting areas like equity compensation, debt financing, lease accounting, and intangible assets.  You will also be responsible for compiling our year-end financial statements and assisting with the annual audit.

Responsibilities

  • Manage equity and stock-based compensation processes, including management of our SBC platform, Astrella, and 409A valuations
  • Oversee debt financing schedules, including repayment and amortization calculations
  • Own ASC 842 lease accounting, analyzing lease classifications for new leases and assessing cost-benefit analyses of winding down locations
  • Conduct annual goodwill and intangible assets impairment assessments
  • Compile year-end financial statements and notes package, ensuring compliance with new accounting pronouncements and disclosure requirements
  • Research and analyze technical accounting matters
  • Assist in coordinating the annual financial statement audits, including ownership of specific SOX controls and accounting policies
  • Own technical projects and workstreams within the Finance Department, and manage complex business process, such as debt, stock-based compensation, financial statements, and reporting packages
  • Develop and foster positive relationships with all internal teams and leaders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA license required)
  • Big 4 public accounting experience a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in finance and accounting within a growing, fast-paced organization
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (NetSuite preferred), ability to make recommendations
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Hands-on mentality, ability to “roll up sleeves and get it done”
  • Driven by a fundamental, intellectual curiosity and self-motivation that manifests in the ability to complete complex operational, financial, and accounting analyses
  • Ability to consult and advise business leaders and managers on a range of issues related to accounting, financial reporting, internal control, and regulatory matters
  • Financial system implementation experience, including business process mapping and improvement
  • Broad business sense; demonstrated financial and accounting-specific competencies
  • Ability to present ideas in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner
  • Creative thinker, fast on your feet demonstrate a consistently proactive approach

The US salary range for this position is provided in this posting. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
