Position Overview:
We are seeking a Data Project Manager with 3-5 years of experience to manage and oversee data project backlogs, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Agile methodologies, experience managing diverse project backlogs, and excellent organizational skills to help maintain project clarity and momentum across teams.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage 12-13 project backlogs, ensuring prioritization, alignment, and timely progression of data projects/products.
  • Design and own the intake process for ad-hoc requests
  • Take in project requests from various departments, assessing their impact on current backlogs and timelines.
  • Ensure that all teams are fully informed about backlog status, priorities, and the scope of current and incoming projects.
  • Handle a continuous flow of requests, balancing new demands with existing backlogged work and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. Help design and own ad hoc request that come through the system.
  • Manage regular Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and ensure smooth team operations.
  • Maintain operational workflow and communication between technical and business teams to ensure alignment on goals and priorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support Data Governance initiatives, including defining, maintaining, and effectively communicating metrics definitions to ensure consistency and clarity across organizational reporting and analytics.
  • Will be part of the team and needs to understand the business requirements. Helping to craft tickets to make sure they are appropriately matching the teams that we work with.

  • Make decisions: Decide on trade-offs, order, and scope
  • Communicate: Communicate with various audiences, including customers, stakeholders, and the development team
  • Optimize the user experience: Continuously work to improve the user experience

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in project management, ideally with a focus on data or technical projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency with JIRA for managing backlogs and tracking project status.
  • Familiarity with SQL or Python is a plus.
  • Strong background in Agile methodologies, with experience running sprints and overseeing Agile workflows.
  • Start-up and Product ownership experience preferred.
