Location:  Remote: (Must be based in the US, in or close to one of the following areas: NYC, DMV, Florida  Will also consider Austin Texas based candidates.)

Education: Juris Doctorate required; Must be admitted and currently practicing law.   

Experience:   10+ years of experience in state and/or municipal law leadership, or industry leadership experience with municipal contracts that apply complex state regulations. Experience with drafting and negotiating B2G contracts is required. Experience with traffic enforcement regulations and/or automated traffic camera contracts/regulations strongly preferred.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY:  We are seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel with a focus on municipal and state contracts and regulatory affairs. This role is remote, but the ideal candidate should be located in the NYC metro-area, South Florida, the DMV area, or Austin, Texas. The Associate General Counsel will report directly to the General Counsel and work closely with the Chief Growth Officer, including the sales and government relations teams, to lead and oversee a variety of legal responsibilities, including negotiating and drafting community program agreements, supporting the RFP/bid procurement process, analyzing state-by-state automated traffic enforcement laws and regulations, supporting program implementations and compliance efforts, and as well as overseeing public records requests.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and draft agreements with state and local government customers, including counties, cities, towns, school districts, law enforcement agencies, and courts.
  • Analyze state-by-state laws and regulatory frameworks, and any apply research and analysis to not only draft and negotiate, but also provide thought leadership and creativity to contracts based on these analyses.
  • Assist with RFP compliance by overseeing bids and proposals from a legal compliance perspective.
  • Manage FOIA/public record request process, determining requirements around records production, responses, and redactions
  • Immerse in the customer journey, including sales, procurement, and interpreting state law for contracts and implementations.
  • Lead and oversee the creation of improved state-by-state contract templates and tracking systems.
  • Support the implementation team and customer success teams by disseminating state and local regulatory to help take new community programs live.

Qualifications

  • Must be well versed in state-by-state and municipal laws relevant to complex regulatory frameworks; traffic enforcement and use of automated traffic camera systems experience is strongly preferred, however will consider regulatory framework experience in related fields. 
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts that take into account state and local regulatory frameworks.
  • 10+ years of experience in state and/or municipal law, or industry experience with state/municipal contracts that apply complex state frameworks.
  • Experience with B2G contracts and negotiations is required.
  • Must be admitted and currently practicing law.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A law degree is required
