Position Overview

The Director of Public Relations will be the primary spokesperson for BusPatrol, shaping its public image, driving media relations, and leading strategic communication efforts. Working closely with the executive team, they will align government affairs messaging, advocate for policy initiatives, and strengthen relationships with policymakers, school districts, communication directors and stakeholders to position BusPatrol as a trusted leader in transportation safety and smart city innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the culture leader and champion for the company, shaping its public image and messaging while serving as the primary spokesperson, managing media inquiries, and conducting interviews to reinforce the organization’s values, vision, and strategic priorities. Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance BusPatrol’s brand reputation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, government Communications directors, School Boards, and local City officials.
  • Oversee the creation of press releases, speeches, and other external communications.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of BusPatrol’s current standing in local markets, assessing brand perception, public sentiment, and industry positioning while evaluating the media landscape to identify opportunities for strategic communication and reputation management
  • Lead crisis communication efforts, ensuring timely and effective responses to public concerns.
  • Collaborate with marketing and government relations teams to align messaging and outreach efforts.
  • Organize public events, press conferences, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Working directly with executive team to help navigate media markets across the US and strategize the impact Public Relations can have on emerging markets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in public relations, preferably in technology, government affairs, or transportation sectors.
  • Proven track record in media relations, crisis management, and strategic communications.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives and media stories.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience managing teams and working with executive leadership.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.

The US salary range for this position is provided in this posting. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
