Overview

Role:                      Systems Test Technician/Bench Technician

Location:               Chantilly, VA (Reports to onsite warehouse environment)

Travel:                   None
Schedule:              Full time, permanent role (Monday to Friday- Dayshift)

Education:            High school diploma required. Trade, vocational or technical school degree is preferred. 

The ideal candidates will have a technology focused background and possess 1-2 years of electrical, CCTV, cabling and mechanical repair experience.  Prior testing experience and knowledge of electronic testing equipment and a strong aptitude for mechanical troubleshooting is preferred.

Role Description:

BusPatrol is seeking a System Test Technician to join our rapidly growing organization.  Our technicians are responsible for sorting and testing our previously deployed equipment (such as camera, cables, and complete 12 Volt DVRs systems) for functionality, cataloging non compliant units , securing all contained data through defined processes and assisting Logistics with Return Merchandise Authorization processing.. We will train the right candidate who is already proficient and able to demonstrate proficiency in the troubleshooting of electro-mechanical devices. Responsibilities

  • Responsible to execute and follow the receiving processes for all electronic equipment, returned from the Field service teams and Customers.
  • Responsible to assess the viability and functionality of systems and parts of electronic equipment such as Cameras, DVR’s, Harnesses and Cables (repair/pass or fail).
  • Responsible to dismantle, sort, and package all equipment based on equipment functionality ( i.e. pack and return to original vendor/ pack and ship for repairs).
  • Responsible to read service manuals, testing procedures, and SWIS documents in order to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair units.
  • Operate a variety of standard hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment, and CCTV testing devices and calibrate test units according to specifications.
  • Use diagnostic equipment including multimeters & software to isolate wiring issues, network connectivity issues, equipment failures, and operational anomalies, and troubleshoot test units down to the component level.
  • Provide basic level of system diagnostics and troubleshooting such as electrical connections or equipment issues.
  • Use computers, tablets, phones and various software programs to convey/enter and retrieve information.
  • Catalog and record reason codes for failures.
  • Maintain all testing records by confirming all tests conducted, procedures used, and results obtained.
  • Protect revenue by performing prescribed SOPs confirming video evidence is present, uploading to digital bank for security of evidentiary package and to maintain chain of evidence.
  • Protect data by performing prescribed SOPs pertaining to bus & fleet identification, storage, segregation, data destruction when required from the secured hard drives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1–2-year technician service experience or schooling in an applicable field:
    • 12-volt electronics installs and service, OR
    • GPS or fleet telemetry installs and service, OR
    • Fire alarm installs and service, OR
    • Access control, CCTV, or intercom systems.
  • High school diploma and GED required; trade, vocational or technical school degree is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical, mathematical and reasoning aptitude.
  • Technical competency in evaluation and testing functionality of electrical devices such as cameras, DVR’s, harnesses/cables.
  • Ability to read and understand service manuals, blueprints, technical specifications, and work instructions as required.
  • Experience operating a variety of standard hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment, and CCTV testing devices in a warehouse environment (utilizing additional equipment such as pallet jacks, 2-wheel carts, cutting, power, and hand tools).
  • Ability to withstand the physical demands of a warehouse environment (prolonged standing for up to 8 hours daily, lifting up to 65lbs regularly, unpacking/repacking heavy subcomponents from the field and suppliers regularly).
  • Ability to work independently in a task repetitive environment, meeting daily quotas and productivity requirements from the Fleet Operations and Logistics team.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving mindset.
  • High level of attention to detail when inspecting and troubleshooting units to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Access)
